From arching branches it carries elliptic, serrated, dark green leaves, to 4 \u00bd” long, which develop vivid orange and red autumn colors. In early spring before the leaves it bears a profusion of fragrant, racemes of 5 or 6 bowl shaped, pale pink, 1 \u00bd” across, fading to nearly white. Flowers are followed by insignificant fruit.
