There are about 30 species from moist woodland and stream banks in Europe, Asia, and North America are deciduous single or multi stem upright shrubs and small trees growing 20-30 feet tall, in this genus. Some species do well in acidic boggy ground or by the side of a pond. \u00a0Most prefer moist shelter sites under other trees but with ample light.<\/p>\n
This species is prone fire blight<\/i><\/em>, and variety of fungal leaf spots, Gymnosporangium rust, powdery mildew, dieback<\/i><\/em>, and cankers<\/i><\/em>\u00a0caused by many different fungi occur.<\/p>\n Amelanchier x grandiflora <\/b><\/strong>\u2018Robin Hill\u2019 <\/b><\/strong>\u2013 Apple serviceberry <\/b><\/strong>\u2013 This is a broadly upright, compact, sometimes shrubby tree and grows up to 25\u2019 feet tall and in breadth. \u00a0It produces egg shape leaves 1 \u00be-3\u201d long open bronze with downy undersides, turning green in late spring.
