There are about 100 species, in this Genus made up of perennials and\/or biennials. \u00a0Found across the northern Hemisphere renowned for its poisons sap. The sap has been used in execution of criminals, baiting wolves, or tainting enemies water supply and medicinally. \u00a0Erect twinning stems bear curious 1-2\u201d long, 5 petal flower with one petal bulges up into a prominent helmet\/hooded like shape in long racemes or panicles 12-24\u201d long which can be blue, yellow, purple, or white. \u00a0Bears rich green kidney shape leaves 2-4\u201d long.<\/p>\n

Aconitum will tolerate most soil in a deep cool moist site. \u00a0If summers are hot and dry, plant in partial shade. \u00a0A great plant for borders and woodland gardens. \u00a0Also great cut flower but if skin comes in contact with the plant it may irritate, remember it is highly toxic. Divide ever 3 years, some varieties require stalking.<\/p>\n

Prone to aphids, fungal stem rots, crown rot, Verticillium wilt, downy mildew, powerdy mildew<\/i><\/em>\u00a0and rusts.<\/i><\/em><\/p>\n

Aconitum \u2018Ivorine\u2019 \u2013 Aconitum septentrionale \u2018Ivorine\u2019<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 This dense upright busy perennial grows 3\u2019 foot tall and 3\u2019 feet wide. \u00a0The leaves are rounded with 3-7 lobes. Dense racemes of ivory flowers are borne in late spring and early summer rise only a little above the foliage. \u00a0Flowers will come in larger and clearer in moist climates.<\/p>\n
