Grow in any moderately fertile, moist but well drained soil in full sun or partial shade, most are drought tender. \u00a0Where not hardy, shelter from cold drying winds. \u00a0Most deciduous Viburnums tolerate hard pruning.<\/p>\n

Prone to gray mold (Botrytis), rust, downy mildew, powdery mildew, wood rot, verticillium wilt, leaf spots, dieback, aphids, scale insects, weevils, Japanese beetle, mealybugs, tree hoppers<\/i><\/em>\u00a0and lepidoptera<\/i><\/em>.<\/p>\n

V. x burkwoodii <\/b><\/strong>\u2018Chenaulrii\u2019 <\/b><\/strong>\u2013 Burkwood Viburnum<\/b><\/strong>\u2013This compact, rounded bushy semi evergreen to deciduous shrub is a English cross between V. carlesii and V. utile grows 5\u2019 feet tall and wide. \u00a0It produces pointed oval, sparsely toothed, glossy, deep green leaves to 4\u201d long with sage green undersides. \u00a0Leaves that drop develop bronze tones. \u00a0Tubular, fragrant pink flowers, \u00bd\u201d across, are borne in domed, terminal corymbs, to 3 \u00bd\u201d across, open from pink buds in mid and late spring, they are followed by circular red fruit, \u00bd\u201d long, ripening to black in autumn.<\/p>\n
