T. polytrichus – T. \u2018Porlock\u2019- T. praecox- Creeping Thyme- Wild Thyme<\/strong> – This dense evergreen, creeping perennial from South Europe grows \u00bd”-2″ tall and can spread to more than 24″ wide. From woody, prostrate, branching stems it produces narrowly oval to oblong, aromatic, dark green leaves, 3\/8″ long, fringed with minute hairs. In summer it bears mauve, purple , occasionally off white flowers in clusters.<\/p>\n

Grow in well drained neutral to alkaline soil in full sun. For thick, dense plants, the flowers should be removed after flowering. Divide in spring.<\/p>\n
