There is a sole species of deciduous shrub in this genus. \u00a0Found in thickets and woodland in China and Japan. \u00a0It has alternate, bright green, roughly diamond shaped leaves with serrated edges up to 2 \u00bd\u201d long. \u00a0It bears saucer or cup shaped yellow flowers up to 2 \u00bd\u201d across. \u00a0Kerrias are grown for their foliage and flowers, and are suitable for a shrub border or an open position in a woodland garden.<\/p>\n

Grow in fertile, moderately moist, well drained soil in full sun or partial shade. \u00a0Divide in autumn.<\/p>\n

Prone to Coral spot, fireblight, leaf blight, twig blight and canker.<\/p>\n

K. japonica <\/b><\/strong>\u2018Picta\u2019 – Kerria japonica \u2018Variegata\u2019\u00a0<\/b><\/strong>– <\/b><\/strong>This suckering shrub grows 5\u2019 feet tall and 6\u2019 feet wide. \u00a0From arching green shoots it carries ovate, pointed, sharply toothed, gray green leaves edged with creamy white, to 4\u201d prominently vein and downy on the undersides. \u00a0The leaves change to yellow in autumn. \u00a0In mid and late spring it bears solitary, single or double, golden yellow flowers, 1 \u00bc-2\u201d across. \u00a0Branches make delightful cut flowers.<\/p>\n
