There are some 50 species of fleshy rooted rhizomatous perennial from grassy scrub on hillsides from Europe, Northern Africa, and Asia, in this genus. \u00a0They forms clumps of narrow grass like leaves. \u00a0In spring or summer wiry 3\u2019 foot long stems carry small starry 6 petalled white flowers in racemes or panicles followed by brown capsular fruits. \u00a0Great for herbaceous border and an excellent cut flowers.<\/p>\n

Grow in moist, but well-drained soil in full sun or morning shade. \u00a0Divide in late winter to early spring.<\/p>\n

Prone to\u00a0rust, slug and snail <\/i><\/em>damage.<\/p>\n

Anthericum liliago \u2013 St. Bernard\u2019s Lily<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 This European rhizomatous perennial grows 24-36\u201d tall. \u00a0It produces mid green grass linear leaves 16\u201d long. \u00a0In late spring and early summer it bears trumpet-shaped lily like white flowers \u00be-1 \u00bc\u201d wide with \u00be\u201d tepals in racemes with each petal with greenish mid vein atop of 3\u2019 foot tall spikes.<\/p>\n
