Draba – <\/strong><\/p>\n

There are about 300 species of annuals and mat or tight, cushion forming, evergreen or semi evergreen perennials, in this genus. They occur in scree and other rocky, mountainous and alpine areas in the arctic and Northern temperate regions and temperate South America. They have rosettes of mainly linear to ovate, oblong, or spoon shaped flowers, borne in terminal racemes, in spring or early summer. Grow in a rock garden, scree bed.<\/p>\n

Grow in gritty, sharply drained soil in full sun. Protect from excessive winter rain.<\/p>\n

Prone to aphids, spider mites, white rust, <\/em>and mildew.<\/em><\/p>\n

D.<\/strong> aizoides – Yellow Whitlow Grass<\/strong> – This mat or cushion forming, semi evergreen perennial found from the U.K., mountains of Central and Southern Europe to Carpathians grows 4″ tall and 10″ wide. It produces rosettes of linear-lance shaped, bristle-edged, dark green leaves, to \u00bd” long. In late spring it bears dense racemes of 4-18 bright yellow flowers, to \u00bd” long. This species is the most easily grown.<\/p>\n
