Kolkwitzia – Beautybush –<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n

There is a sole species of deciduous shrub in this genus. \u00a0Found in rocky, mountainous areas of China. \u00a0It has simple leaves, carried in opposite pairs, and is grown for its profusion of spring blooms of bell shaped flowers carried in dense corymbs. \u00a0Beautybush is excellent for a shrub border or as a specimen plant.<\/p>\n

Grow in any well drained soil, preferably in full sun, although some shade is tolerated. \u00a0In cold areas protect from cold winds.<\/p>\n

K. amabilis <\/b><\/strong>\u2018Pink Cloud\u2019 <\/b><\/strong><\/b>– This bushy, deciduous, suckering shrub from China grows 10-12\u2019 feet tall and wide. \u00a0From long arching shoots it carries broadly egg shaped, pointed, deep green leaves, to 3\u201d long. \u00a0In late spring and early summer it bears masses of bell shaped, bright, deep pink flowers, to \u00bd\u201d across with yellow flushed throats held in terminal corymbs, 2-3\u201d across, followed by small fruit covered with bristles.<\/p>\n
