Alchemilla \u2013 Lady\u2019s Mantle<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n

There are about 300 species of clump forming perennials, in this genus. They are found in light woodland and some rocky habitants in North temperate and arctic zones and from Africa, India, Sri Lanka, Indonesia. \u00a0Valued for their foliage and frothy sprays of flowers. \u00a0Most have woody creeping roots and shallowly to palmately lobed rounded or kidney shaped attractively pleated or often covered with fine hairs. \u00a0They bear 1\/8\u201d wide green or yellowish green that are long lasting and great for cut flowers. \u00a0Many species have styptic and other medicinal properties.<\/p>\n

These frost hardy species grow in any moist soil that\u2019s humus rich in sun or partial shade but foliage will deteriorate in summer heat. \u00a0Divided in late winter to early spring.<\/p>\n

Prone to slugs and snail<\/i><\/em>\u00a0damage.<\/p>\n

Alchemilla aplina \u2013 Alpine Lady\u2019s Mantle<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 This mat forming perennial grows 6\u201d inches tall and 18\u201d inches wide. \u00a0In summer very small erect stem bear greenish yellow flowers. \u00a0Leaves have 5-7 deeply lobe and are 1 \u00bd\u201d long are green above and with silvery undersides.<\/p>\n
