Mukdenia – Aceriphyllum – <\/strong><\/p>\n

There are 2 species of slowly spreading herbaceous perennials in this genus. They occur in woodland in Northeastern Asia. They have short, thick rhizomes and large, long stalked, palmately 5 to 9 lobed, toothed leaves. In spring it bears leafless panicles or racemes of small, bell shaped, 5 to 6 petaled white flowers. They are suitable for a woodland garden, and grow best in areas with cool, damp summers.<\/p>\n

Grow in leafy, moist but well drained soil in light dappled or partial shade. Divide in spring.<\/p>\n

Prone to snails and slugs.<\/em><\/p>\n

M. rossii – Aaceriphyllum rossii<\/strong> – This perennial from Northern China and Korea grows 14″ tall and at least 16″ wide. It produces short, thick rhizomes and palmately 5 to 9 lobed, bronze tinted, mid green leaves, 6″ across. In spring it bears dense, short branched panicles of creamy white flowers, to 1\/4″ across, held above the leaves.<\/p>\n
