It produces leathery, wrinkled mid green leaves which turn an attractive golden bronze in fall.. Mainly in spring it bears buds that are deep pink, opening to shallowly, cupped, single, sweet scented, pale, cool pink flowers, that are 3 ½” across, with yellow stamens. With sporadic repeat blooms until autumn. Flowers are followed by tomato shaped, crimson hips in late summer. Tolerates seaside conditions, urban landscapes, and hot spots. Typically not bothered by diseases or pests except rose stem girdler, and flowers may attract Japanese beetles.
